Mealpakt is an EU‑based, privacy‑first meal planner that turns the EU’s food waste targets into something that happens in real kitchens, every week. Here is why it matters, how it works, and what your support would make possible.

Retailers and manufacturers have targets, audits and logistics software. Households, who cause more than half of the waste, have a fridge magnet and good intentions. The revised Waste Framework Directive now obliges member states to cut food waste per person in retail, food service and households by 30 % by 2030. Meeting that target without reaching households is simply not possible. Directive (EU) 2025/1892

From good intentions to an empty fridge.

    Waste starts in the shop

    Most household waste is decided before anyone cooks: when a recipe needs 100 ml and the shelf only offers 200 ml.

    Plan around packs, not grams

    Mealpakt plans dishes that share ingredients, so every pack bought has a destination before it enters the basket.

    Close the loop at home

    A pantry that updates itself, “use it up” reminders and leftovers that roll into next week’s plan.

    Make progress visible

    A weekly waste score shows each household what they saved, and turns a vague virtue into a habit.

03What success looks like

One million households, halving their waste.

An average EU household of 2.3 people throws away about 159 kg of food a year. If one million households halved that, Europe would waste around 79,000 tonnes less food every year, before counting the money, water, land and emissions behind it.
